Wander the wetlands

Whether you're here for a leisurely stroll, a walk with the dog or a long run, the Heyfield Wetlands promise a serene and rejuvenating experience in the heart of Gippsland, Victoria.​ Once home to the Heyfield Racecourse, this beautiful reserve has been completely transformed into a nature lovers haven.

You'll discover four kilometres of walkways weaving through a variety of different ecosystems. The walks are mostly flat, gravel pathways (making them wheelchair and pram friendly) meaning the whole family can get out and explore!

​

The 28 hectare site also has eight exercise stations and various boardwalks with viewing platforms so you can completely immerse yourself in the peaceful surrounds. The Wetlands offers a natural sanctuary for people to enjoy walking, exercising, bird watching, fishing, photography and outdoor events.

 

You'll get to to see all sorts of birdlife and plants thrive in their natural habitat which rely on the rich, moist beds of minerals available in the wetlands mud.
